Capturing graffiti on canvas – Post Apocalyptic Graffiti Writers

This artwork painted at the legendary graffiti festival Step in the Arena in 2022, and it was just too good to let it live for such a short time. The theme of the festival was the future of graffiti, and so we came up with this character of a little girl, on her BMX with spray paint strapped to her, and she is on her way to get up. The pipes and the full face helmet help you imagine the setting, as this artwork is called the “Post Apocalyptic Graffiti Writer”.

We liked the idea of eternalizing the artwork a bit by recreating it on a quality stretched canvas, and now you can get a slice of the festival, a little bit of graffiti on canvas . As artists we are obviously very passionate about graffiti art so this is a great way for us to bring something you would have seen painted at a festival, that is recreated to capture that raw energy.

The artwork measures in at 60cm X 80cm wide, and was painted with spray paint on canvas. All the colour shapes were painted free hand, and the lines were created using brushes. Finally, the artwork is finished off with a generous clear coat to help protect its vibrancy.

The artwork was created in Scheveningen, when the street artists were using a building across the road from De Appel. One of the appeals of this painting is that is captures the raw energy of graffiti on canvas.
